Part 4 ~ It Takes a Village!: Provision

During the week of tests and doctor visits, our church held Vacation Bible School (VBS) during the morning. This worked out rather well as I did not need to find childcare for any of my appointments. My s-i-l, Jen, and other friends from church that were helping with VBS took Bean with them when I had appointments that were late in the morning or after VBS.  While there, I saw my Pastor daily. He got to see me ugly cry a lot! He always had a box of tissues ready for me! He let me unload all of my fears and worries and he prayed over me. The last day of that week, I was able to meet with a friend of mine who had just battled breast cancer the previous year. We talked together and she prayed for me.

It was wonderful to not have to hide what my family and I were going thru. We felt so loved and supported during this time.  You’ve probably heard the phrase “it takes a village”. These people were my village!

Do you have a village like this? Those you can turn to and count on to lift you up and help you with the day-to-day stuff during hard times? If not, you need to find yourself some of those people! They did not need anything in return. They did it out of love.

God provided for me that week. Loving, caring friends to care for my child while my doctors cared for me. And when I returned to pick her up, they made time to talk with me and offer their support, should it be needed again.

God’s provision is amazing! Not just for me and what I needed then, but in general. Did you wake up this morning? Were you able to find something to eat and wear? Did you arrive safely at your job? That is a start! Sometimes when we hear the word “provide” we think about the things we want versus the things we need. I’m not talking about your need for the newest tech gadget here! I’m referring to the things we need to survive. Yes, God knows when His children are Jonesing for something more. Maybe you lost your job and have a car payment you need to pay. Maybe your bank account was hacked and you need to get some groceries. Pray! Lay your need for provision at His feet! Watch how He works and moves in your life. Warning: it may or may not be how YOU envision! It may come in a different form than you were expecting. It may not be at all what you thought you needed. However He provides, thank Him, praise Him and keep watching for how He will continue to bless you!
